K&A Coal-to-Chemicals Strategy Platform
(Integrated pre-feasibility screening)
Evaluate alternative Surface Coal Gasification (SCG) based coal-to-chemicals project configurations using first-principles engineering calculations, integrated project economics, and K&A's truly independent strategic perspective captured through our Base Case assumptions
(Underground Coal Gasification (UCG): We have also developed dedicated UCG product pathways for the K&A Coal-to-Chemicals Strategy Platform. Existing license holders receive access at no additional licence cost. → Visit the UCG Strategy Platform)

Scope
Every Coal-to-Chemicals project has several technically feasible configurations. The platform systematically evaluates practical alternatives, quantifies their engineering and economic implications, and helps identify the configuration most likely to maximise long-term project value
The platform is intended to support pre-feasibility stage project evaluation. It does not replace technology licensor guarantees, detailed process design, site-specific engineering, EPC estimates, bankable feasibility studies or project-specific tax, legal and regulatory advice.
Actual project development should ultimately be supported by detailed coal assays, technology licensor guarantees, site investigations, engineering studies, EPC quotations and applicable Government policy and incentive structures.
Potential Users
The platform is intended for strategic project screening, configuration evaluation and early-stage investment assessment. Potential users include:- Project promoters and developers
- Investors, financial institutions and lenders
- EPC contractors and engineering consultants
- Technology licensors
- Government agencies and public-sector enterprises
- Industrial companies evaluating coal-to-chemicals opportunities
- Global coal and petcoke producers
- Organisations assessing the strategic impact on competing product value chains
Product Coverage
Our Strategy Platform includes all the eligible products currently listed under the Scheme for Promotion of Coal/Lignite Gasification Projects of the Government of India
Individual product links provide free access to the respective input pages.

- Key Sensitivities
- Impact of Government Incentives
- Strategic Considerations: Overall
- Strategic Considerations: Product-wise
This being a pre-feasibility assessment, it does not consider Project or Organisation specific tax depreciation schedules, tax shields, tax holidays or other tax incentives, except for Government Scheme Incentives
K&A Strategic Perspectives
Beyond first-principles engineering calculations and integrated project economics, every project evaluation includes an independent K&A Strategic Perspective.
K&A brings a truly independent strategic perspective—free from alignment with any technology licensor, EPC contractor, feedstock supplier or equipment manufacturer. Our Base Case assumptions represent K&A's considered engineering, commercial and strategic judgement for pre-feasibility evaluation.
The platform incorporates two complementary levels of strategic evaluation:
1. Project-Level Strategic Considerations
Common strategic principles applicable across virtually all coal-to-chemicals projects, including coal quality, plant location, feedstock flexibility, gasifier & ASU configuration, and long-term business roadmap.
2. Product-Specific K&A Strategic Perspectives
Each of the 19 product-specific Strategic Perspectives examines the optimum project configuration, principal technical and commercial implications, the critical factors most likely to influence long-term project value, and K&A recommendations for further evaluation during the feasibility stage.
The Biggest Strategic Surprise
After completing first-principles engineering and integrated financial evaluation across all 19 product pathways, one result consistently surprised us. It challenged one of the most intuitive assumptions in coal-to-chemicals project development. K&A believes this finding can help clients take a more informed view of their strategic project choices
Annual Organisational Licence:
₹38,00,000 + GST (US$40,000)
The Annual Organisational Licence provides organisation-wide access to all product modules; no separate licence is required for individual products.
The K&A Coal-to-Chemicals Strategy Platform is an online decision-support system. All engineering calculations, project economics and sensitivity analyses are performed instantly through the web interface, enabling rapid evaluation of alternative project configurations without installing any software.
All detailed input pages are available for free viewing across every product pathway, allowing prospective users to examine the modelling methodology, engineering framework and more than 60 technical, commercial and financial input variables before subscribing.
The Annual Organisational Licence includes:
- Access to all product modules
- Unlimited project evaluations and sensitivity analyses
- Financial modelling in both US Dollar and Indian Rupee terms
Model execution and all calculated outputs require an active subscription.
Platform Exclusions
The Annual Organisational Licence provides access to the online decision-support platform only. The following are specifically excluded:
- Demonstration Support
All 60+ technical, commercial and financial input pages are available for free viewing, clearly demonstrating the methodology, modelling framework and engineering rigour of the platform. No additional product demonstration is envisaged. - Technical Support
This is a self-service Strategic Platform designed for online project evaluation. Routine telephonic, video or in-person technical support is not included under the Annual Organisational Licence. - Project-Specific Consultancy
Custom engineering studies, FEED, EPC services, bespoke financial models and project-specific advisory assignments are outside the scope of the Annual Organisational Licence and may be undertaken separately on mutually agreed commercial terms.
