MCP in Green Day Ahead Market (GDAM)

Green Day Ahead Market (GDAM), which is a part of Integrated Day Ahead Market, allows market participants to buy and sell renewable electricity for the next day. The prices and quantum of renewable electricity to be traded are determined through a double-sided closed auction bidding process just like DAM
All eligible Buyers and Sellers from Solar, Non-Solar and Hydro generation source can participate in GDAM. Separate quantity limit for sellers in each category i.e. Solar, Non-Solar and Hydro need to be provided to Exchange through NOAR (National Open Access Registry)
Participants can use ‘Order Carry forward (OCF)’ at the time of placing bid to carry forward uncleared bids from GDAM to DAM at either premium or discount price
We at K&A track and analyse slotwise prices and quantum of electricity to be traded in DAM and GDAM. Presented below is a graph of Hourly Market Clearing Price (MCP) on the GDAM market for the latest day. We update this information everyday
The second graph, presented below the first graph, captures Hourly (GDAM-DAM) MCP Delta for the latest date
Finally, below the second graph, we have captured monthly summary in tabular form. Besides capturing Min/Max/Average for the month, the Table also captures what percent of times hourly GDAM MCP was = Rs. 10/ KWh, down to >= Rs 1/ KWh. Rs. 10 / KWh is the current ceiling price
For example in FY 2024-25, GDAM MCP was = Rs 10 / KWh for 12.5% of the times. Likewise it was >= Rs 7 / KWh for 19% of the times, and so on, for every month
We have found this analysis, especially the significant month-wise variation in percent of the times GDAM MCP >= a threshold value of interest, quite useful for variety of strategic / tactical planning exercises
Hourly GDAM MCP(Hour 1 refers to 1 am)
For 10-11-2025, the minimum GDAM MCP was 1.6 Rs/KWh, the maximum GDAM MCP was 10 Rs/KWh, and the average GDAM MCP was 3.83 Rs/KWh
For 10-11-2025, the minimum Delta (GDAM - DAM) was -0.36 Rs/KWh, the maximum was 1.82 Rs/KWh, and the average was 0.8 Rs/KWh
