Petroleum Products Sector in India

Petroleum products are classified into three broad categories, Light Distillates, Middle Distillates and Heavies, based on their boiling point ranges

Light products are typically grouped into three categories: ethane/liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), naphtha and gasoline

Middle distillates are typically grouped into two categories: jet/kerosene and diesel/gasoil

The Heavies part of the barrel comprises Residual fuel oil (including refinery fuel oil) and ‘other products’ (including bitumen, lubricants, waxes, coke, sulphur, direct use of crude oil)
